Case

On 12 February 2018 while Thanat was detained at the prison in Ratchaburi Province pending for his Lese Majeste trial at the Ratchaburi Provincial Court, the prison authorities transfered him to the Bangkok Remand prison without given a notice in advance for given any reason. Next morning Thanat was brought to the Criminal Court where he received a copy of complaint stating that he was accused to committed Lese Majeste offense by made a speech during a political rally of the Red Shirt in Lamphun Province on 1 May 2011. This is his 4th lese majeste case.   

 

Thanat pleaded guilty to the judge in a reconciliation chamber immediately, the judge initially told him that his verdict will be read in the afternoon however, the judge postponed the rendering of a verdict reasoned that they need more time for a deliberation and set the new schedule on 16 February 2018.

 

Later, on 14 February 2018 Thanat's wife informed iLaw that the schedule for the rendering of a verdict was postponed to 29 March 2018 which the Criminal Court had dismissed the charge against Thanat
