Case

Navy officers who knew the defendant and saw Facebook posts reported to police and led to her arrest on May 2016. She was detained in prison before got support from Thai Lawyers for Human Rights. However, the mental diagnosis and bail request took too long due to the paper issues until the doctor testified that she has got paranoid schizophrenia. She had been detained for almost 2 years.

 

Chonburi Military Court started the trial late because it was waiting for medical report. The defendant and her family had duty to travel to the court many times. When the first witness examination started, the court order a closed door trial. When NCPO ordered to transfer all cases to normal court, the closed door order continued.

 

18 August 2020, Pattaya Provincial Court dismissed lese majesete charge but found guilty under Computer Crimes Act. However, new interpretation was delivered by saying all Royal family members are protected under lese majeste law. The defendant had got mental illness but was still partially able to appreciate the nature or illegality then was sentenced to 6 months for each counts, together 78 months, the penalty was suspended.
