Summary

Background of accused

Yeamyod is the former government teacher. He, on behalf of the National Thai Teachers Union, joined the movement for a long time with Suchon Chaleekrua, the former Senate Speaker. After the crackdown of the red-shirt on April-May 2010 Yeamyod was one of the accused for violating Emergency Decree together with many red-shirt leaders.

During year 2012, Yeamyod protested requesting for release of the political prisoners as well as the cases relating to Article 112, and to nullify the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2550 (2007). He was the leader of the 20 Northeastern Provinces People’s Union for Democracy who processed to gather the signatures of 65,400 people to submit the request for amendment of the Section 291 of the constitution.

25 May 2014

At 8.25 PM, Col. Winthai Suwaree, the Army Deputy Spokesman, on behalf of the spokesman team of NCPO, declared the NCPO’s order No. 14/2557 to summon more 30 people including Yeamyod Srimantar. The NCPO appointed them to report themselves at the meeting room in Military Club Tewet on 26 May 2014 but Yeamyod did not go.

8 June 2014

Pol. Col. Prasopchok Prommoon, the Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, reported that the inquiry officers of the Crime Suppression Division collected the evidences to request for arrest warrants for 10 people, including Yeamyod Srimantar, avoiding report themselves according to the NCPO order. The penalty for this offence is maximum 2 years in prison or 20,000 Thai Baht fine or both of things.

9 June 2014

Yeamyod reported himself at the Crime Suppression Division in the evening, and was detained there together with the protesters showing the sign of anti-the coup d’etat.

10 June 2014

11.20 AM at the Crime Suppression Division, Pol. Col. Prasopchok Prommoon, the inquiry officers and the army officers took Yeamyod to the Bangkok Military Court. The judges received the request for further detention for 12 days and waived the warrant of arrest. After that, Yeamyod was bailed out by paying 100,000 Thai baht as a guarantee. However, he must report to the court on 20 June 2014.
